mr. jeffersons river, the rivanna Full of color photos, this book is the history of an era in Albemarle and Fluvanna counties when boats and mills on the Rivanna River provided a means of transportation and industry in this section of Piedmont Virginia. From 1763 until c. 1915, the Rivanna made the agricultural economy possible and profitable. Then the navigation system and its boats yielded to the railroads, and soon the water-powered mills also disappeared. The years of the Rivanna navigation were unique and are fondly remembered.
